The only known circumstance that appears to protect against the development of Alzheimer’s disease (Alz) is having an advanced education or engaging in a job that demands using sophisticated cognitive skills. Given this general fact, there have been a number of attempts to instill whatever is allowing higher education to protect against developing Alz. The only two circumstances that appear to emulate having an advanced education is a habit of reading books and the cognitive exercise program of Posit Science.
The previous paragraph was written to encourage reading books. Most of what is advocated for you to read is related to the critical risks we have identified that set the conditions for Alz. However, we do provide a few other kinds of books or reading material. Those are given in the section of the bookstore called general interest. As we read other good books, we are apt to post them in that section.
Most of the books shown here are on one of our bookshelves. Rarely, we rely on others’ reviews of the books. We use brief descriptions of the books sometimes as they appear in the product information section of AmazonSmile.com.

This book was written for young women. The book warns them about the particular dangers women risk when they consume daily wine and other alcoholic beverages. The book also reports on how the alcohol beverage industries are effectively advertising their products so that young women are drinking more than is healthy. Although written for young women, it is equally relevant to post-menopausal women who are at more risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease (Alz) than men. And, drinking excessive alcoholic beverages is a risk for developing Alz.
If current trends continue there will soon be more wives, mothers and grandmothers who are alcoholic than husbands, fathers, and grandfathers. Which to my mind (Larry) will be a sad occurrence since women are often the stalwarts of ethical and moral values.
This book is a good book to give to your granddaughters in the hope that it alerts them to the false advertisements used by the alcohol beverage industry to drink more and more and the dangers women face when they drink more than is safe.
Note: the apparent conflict of interest. Larry Reid does get a small royalty from every book sold. Those royalties are transferred to the Alzheimers Prevention Project.
